Americana/Roots band Shinyribs to perform April 26

Date: 4/26/2016
From: 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Kiwanis Park - Old Alabama Town

Shinyribs, the roots music congregation led by Gourds frontman Kevin Russell, performs Tuesday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at Kiwanis Park in Old Alabama Town. The concert, presented by the Alabama Roots Music Society, is free, but donations will be appreciated.
The Texas-based Gourds became a favorite on the Americana/roots music scene in the 1990s. Russell started Shinyribs in 2006 and is joined by Gourds drummer Keith Langford. Critics describe Russell’s music as cowboy soul mixed with country blues and a dollop of funk. A Shinyribs show combines Russell originals like “Sweet Potato” and “Sweeter Than the Scars” with unusual covers like Harold Melvin’s “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” performed solely on ukulele.

Bring your chairs and your coolers and enjoy an evening of roots music outdoors.
